{"id":7731,"date":"2019-02-20T13:36:09","date_gmt":"2019-02-20T12:36:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/outingholland.nl\/approach\/methodology\/"},"modified":"2023-07-24T11:57:12","modified_gmt":"2023-07-24T09:57:12","slug":"methodology","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/outingholland.nl\/en\/approach\/methodology\/","title":{"rendered":"Methodology"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>How does it work?<\/h2>\n<p>Every once in a while a client or participant asks us: <em>\u201cWhat do poles, ropes and car tires have to do with my job?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In order to be able to answer this question, we start by explaining the four aspects that are part of each job. We named this model \u2018the square\u2019:<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 640px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><!--[if lt IE 9]><script>document.createElement('video');<\/script><![endif]-->\n<video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-7731-1\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/outingholland.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Vierkantje-2021-met-animatie-ENGELS-1.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/outingholland.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Vierkantje-2021-met-animatie-ENGELS-1.mp4\">https:\/\/outingholland.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Vierkantje-2021-met-animatie-ENGELS-1.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/outingholland.nl\/vierkantje-oh-engels\/\" alt=\"\" \/>What, Who, With what<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/outingholland.nl\/vierkantje-oh-engels\/\" alt=\"\" width=\"Infinity\" \/><\/h2>\n<p>Three of the four aspects (<em>what<\/em> your job involves, <em>who<\/em> you work with, and the\u00a0<em>means<\/em> you have to work with) are very difficult to influence.<\/p>\n<p>During our programmes we change the task (<em>What), <\/em>people (<em>Who) <\/em>and te means (<em>With what<\/em>).\u00a0Participants perform assignments that are different from their daily tasks (<em>what) <\/em>and have to use different materials (<em>with what<\/em>) than they normally would. In some cases, your team members during the training (<em>who<\/em>) might not even be your direct colleagues in the workplace. By changing those three aspects, you are only able to influence aspect number four: <em>How<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h2>How?<\/h2>\n<p>That is when behaviour becomes visible and tangible. During the reflection we ask:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><u>How<\/u><\/em><em> did you handle the assigned <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">task<\/span> (what) with the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">means<\/span> (with what) and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">participants<\/span> (who) available?<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Asking this question achieves true insight into behaviour and reveals why professionals handle daily work situations the way they do. The next step is to put this behaviour up for discussion: is everybody satisfied with the situation as is? Does it achieve what it intends to achieve?
